What We Do

Our Mission

Everyone has been touched by cancer. The word alone, finding a potential tumor, or the anxiety of a diagnosis puts fear in all of us. We’ve watched family, friends, and coworkers who have fought for their lives and others who have had their lives changed by a diagnosis.

District Pink founder Kerri Weir was only 33 years old when she felt a lump in her breast. She was running miles and miles each week, thriving in her career, and by all accounts happy and healthy. Her life changed forever when she was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). After three rounds of chemo, a double mastectomy, reconstructive surgery, and radiation, she is now living cancer-free.

Kerri’s story is not over, however. She owes her life to groundbreaking research that is changing the way we fight cancer. She founded District Pink to better the odds for other young women in our community who are battling breast cancer. And through District Pink, we’re proud to partner with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s efforts to prevent and cure breast cancer by advancing the world's most promising research.

Today we’re engaging the community around us to educate others on the preventative work that they can support, whether it be informing others on actions they can take to take charge of their health and mitigate their own risks, sharing insights on new advancements, or supporting the latest in BCRF’s lifesaving and forward-leaning research!
